Our Inspiration: A Nod to a Legend
The name “Great Jones” is a tribute to Judith Jones, the legendary editor and cookbook maven who championed home cooking and helped shape American food culture.
During her career at Knopf, Judith famously edited and advocated for culinary icons like Julia Child, James Beard, and Edna Lewis. She treated pots, pans, and ingredients with a deep, artistic reverence. That seamless blend of delicious food, vibrant living, and timeless design is the very soul of our brand.
Why We Started Great Jones
Before founding the company, our team faced a common dilemma: shopping for kitchenware was overwhelming, confusing, and overpriced. Traditional brands offered dusty, intimidating cookware collections that didn’t fit modern lives or kitchens.
We launched Great Jones in 2018 to shake up an uninspired industry:
